Methven Shed

Location type

Loco shed

Name and dates

Methven Shed (1858-1931)

Description

This was a single road brick built shed which opened with the line to Methven. It stood opposite (to the east of) the passenger platform and was approached from the south. There was no turntable. It was used to stored locomotives overnight at the terminus.

With the introduction of steam railcars on the service from Perth to Methven the shed fell out of use for its original purpose. It was used as a goods shed, surviving until closure of the line in 1965.
