A temporary running shed was built in March 1989 at Muir of Ord following the collapse of the Ness Viaduct in Inverness. It was built on the footprint of the goods shed, which was demolished.
This was a single road shed moved from Barassie PW Depot. The shed, station and grain sidings became a depot, train and carriage depot for the duration of the period while the Ness Viaduct was replaced. During this period, Muir of Ord station was closed, a minibus picking up what passenger traffic there was.
The shed remained standing afterwards for some years, later fenced off, and more recently demolished.
This was the second shed at Muir of Ord. The original, dating from1894, was north of the road bridge and on the east side of the station approached from the north. It served the Fortrose branch. Access was from branch. The turntable was in the 'V' between the branch and the shed siding.
