Newington Goods was west of Newington, Newington Stone Yard being a little further west. Both were on the north side of the line and served from the west.
It was briefly a passenger station in 1905, and again in 1907, for the Review of the Scottish Volunteers in Holyrood Park. The loading bank was used as a platform. For the review a temporary box opened on the platform at Newington [NBR], splitting Blackford Hill to Cameron Toll Signal Box.
Access to the yard was controlled by Blackford Hill signal box, the box opened with the line and closed in 1969.
The site of the goods yard is now housing.
