This salt works was on the shoreline north west of the Pettycur Harbour pier. The works' coke ovens were reached by reversal from the end of the branch which reached the base of the harbour pier.
After 1902 the site became a glass works. This was built in 1901 by William Bailey (owner of another works at Portobello). It closed shortly afterwards and was re-opened in 1908 by the Kinghorn Bottle Co.
The branch was to the north of the works and sidings into the glass works were laid in a similar pattern to the earlier coke ovens siding. There was a loop on the branch to the north of the glass works. The junction with the main line was relocated slightly further west and there was a sand siding.
After 1937 this was a United Glass Bottle Manufacturers Limited works.
The works closed in 1982 following a downturn in whisky production, which was unfortunate after major investment in 1980.
The works site is now housing.
