This mineral yard was on the west side of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway's Cowlairs Incline. Approach was from the north (giving the appearance of three tracks on the incline) with the connection to the main line at the south end of Cowlairs station. The sidings fanned out on the east side of Keppochhill Road.
Lines connecting from the throat of the yard ran west to Craighall Goods (from which, by reversal, Port Dundas Distillery was reached) and south east to St Rollox Chemical Works (by a straggling line crossing the main line).
The yard survived the other lines, to be the final part of the Port Dundas Branch in the mid 1980s. The coal yard itself survived the removal of the sidings for some years.
The site is now a light industrial estate.
