Description

This is a single platform station with a fine example of a single storey timber Highland Railway station building. The station is south of Plockton Village, famed for its palm trees, which is largely to the north east on the shore of Loch Carron.

Land was taken here to allow a second platform and passing loop, neither of which were installed.

There was a goods yard to the west which was on the north side of the line and accessed from the east. The goods shed was at the west end of the passenger platform.

The station building is now self catering accommodation Off the rails Plockton .

Nearby is a bunkhouse in the style of a signal box. Plockton Station Bunkhouse

The station has been adopted by the nearby Plockton High School.

To the north of Plockton in Loch Carron is Cat Islands Lighthouse, one of several provisions made by the Highland Railway to make the route to Strome Ferry Pier safe for shipping when this was the terminus of the line from [[Dingwall].
