This short tunnel under Glasgow Road and New Road, Rutherglen, was west of Rutherglen West Junction and east of Shawfield Junction.
Initially a double track tunnel it was later increased to four (suspect single bore added to north and south).
It was fully opened out with the Glasgow Road being carried on a bridge and New Street being diverted to the south to form a new junction with Glasgow Road. Authorisation was given in 1910. (Built between 1910 and 1914.)
