/ /1853	Pilmoor to Malton Line (York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway) Opened from Sessay Wood Junction to Scarborough Road Junction. Stations opened at Husthwaite Gate, Coxwold, Ampleforth, Gilling, Hovingham, Slingsby, Barton-le-Street and Amotherby. The connection made at Malton was at Scarborough Road Junction where, if needed, a reversal was required by an eastbound train from Pilmoor to approach Malton station.

Scarborough Road Junction to Malton East Junction was retained as a reversing spur to access the remaining eastern portion of the Pilmoor to Malton Line (York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway).
