This iron works had a large range of specialities, adverting that it made: locomotives, mining machinery, pumps, air compressors, pumps, gas holders and gas plant, general castings and machinery. They were engineers, ironfounders and boilermakers. It was owned by the Airdrie Iron Co.
The works was in the north of Airdrie, on Mill Street, served by a siding from the Hallcraig Street Branch (Ballochney Railway), which ran east from a short distance north of the Hallcraig Street terminus.
In addition to producing machinery for heavy industry it also built locomotives from 1869. The number is uncertain but in the range 20 to 30. Known examples are industrial locomotives for the Drumgray Coal Co and for Glasgow Corporation Gas Works.
The works closed in 1913 and was cleared to become a corporation yard.
