Station

Name and dates

Stocksfield (1835-)

Station code: SKS National Rail
Where: North East England, England
Opened on the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway.

Description

This is a two platform station with a fine NER footbridge. There is a car park to the south.

The station building, which was on eastbound platform by the footbridge, no longer exists

An early railway cottage is set back at an angle at east end of station. It is an attractive building with an entrance portico and is still in use as a house.

The goods line looped through on south side of the station (thus the angle of the railway cottage at the point of divergence at the east end of the station). The goods yard is now the car park.

The line west to Hexham was single track until 1844.
