Opened on the Border Union Railway (North British Railway).
Description
This is a new station built in 2010 and opened on a section of preserved line.
Waverley Route Heritage Association
This was the site of a refuge siding for bankers on the southbound side of the line with signal box. The siding also saw some use as a public siding for local traffic. The siding was approached by reversal from the south. It was also used as a halt for railway staff and their families.
The siding closed in 1967 and line in 1969.
It was to the south of Whitrope Tunnel and north of Whitrope Culvert and Whitrope Summit.
The site was exposed with considerable snow fencing.
The location saw some passenger use - but there was no platform and it was not a passenger station.
The box closed in 1967.
A railway cottage remains here. The foundations of the former signal box have been uncovered.
Also known as Limekilnedge Siding - Limekilnedge is to the north east.
