Plans have been lodged to convert 40-year-old first class train carriages into a Thai restaurant beside Pitlochry station which will be restored to their original 1980 British Rail orange interior decor.

A unique new dining experience could soon be stationed in Pitlochry as a family bid to open a restaurant in two former train carriages.

The interesting railway collection at Glenfinnan station yard includes a NBR hand crane, snow plough and two MkI carriages, one of which operates as a tea room. This was the view on 26th July 2018. A revisit one week later was much wetter and the scenery had disappeared.

The two coaches located alongside the platform at Bellingham, seen here in November 2013, provide a tea room and exhibition space for the local heritage centre which stands off picture to the right. The old station building itself is used as offices by the local council.

The Kingdom of HSTs has not yet cometh to the Highland Main Line with two Up and two Down trains in succession formed of 170s. The 1224 departures are seen at Pitlochry on 29 May 2019 looking north. The station has suddenly moved into the 21st century and is bristling with LED lights, CCTV, multi-mode information screens and saturation PA.
