Scotland's Railway is continuing Fit For The Future investments with the opening on Sunday (12 December) of a new engineering depot at Cadder, near Glasgow. Located between Bishopbriggs and Lenzie on the Edinburgh & Glasgow line, Cadder was quickly identified as the ideal location to accommodate up to six High Speed Trains (HSTs) due to its accessibility to Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh Waverley stations where more than 80% of Inter7City services start or finish.

As part of the Scottish Governments on-going investment in Scotlands Railway, Network Rail is delivering a new £33m train depot and staff accommodation facilities within the existing Cadder railway yard, between Bishopbriggs and Lenzie.
(Permalink) Cadder Yard Cadder Yard: New Inter7City stabling facility under construction at former EGIP electrification depot.  Cadder Yard: Cadder Yard is a shadow of its former self. On 23 November 2018 a 4+3 car Class 385 EMU, on an Edinburgh to Glasgow service, passes the west end of the yard.  Cadder Yard: Cadder Yard looking east in 2001. This hump shunting yard was built by the NBR as part of the Sighthill Goods Yard and High Street Goods Yard modernisation scheme. |
