The Forth and Clyde Junction Railway ran from Balloch (Loch Lomond) to Stirling, via Jamestown, Caldarvan, Drymen (station at the village of Croftamie), Gartness, Balfron (station at the village of Indians), Buchlyvie, Port of Menteith, Kippen and Gargunnock. This must have been one of the most scenic routes in its time. The Strathendrick & Aberfoyle line crossed over at Buchlyvie Junction. It didn't last for long in passenger service but continued with goods services for quite a few years after passenger services were withdrawn. For a time Sentinel steam railcars were used on the line.
