This was a railway between Malton and Driffield, largely single track but with many structures built to take a second if it were to be doubled. The route included the Burdale Tunnel. The line opened in 1853, closed to passengers in 1950 and closed to goods in 1958. A short portion survived between Malton East Junction and Scarborough Road Junction as a reversing spur until 1964. This was for the 1853 Pilmoor to Malton Line (York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway) which extended the route west to Pilmoor on the East Coast Main Line. This was part of a greater aspiration to create a Hull to Newcastle through route.
These locations are along the line.
