York and North Midland Railway

Introduction

This line is still open. This railway ran from Castleford, near Leeds, to York. It expanded by acquisition and new lines to Leeds, Harrogate, Whitby, Scarborough, Bridlington and Beverley. It became part of the North Eastern Railway.

Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway, Great North of England Railway, Hull and Selby Railway, Leeds and Selby Railway, London and Birmingham Railway, Manchester and Leeds Railway, Midland Counties Railway, North Midland Railway and York and North Midland Railway join.
21/07/1845	York and North Midland Railway Act for a branch from Church Fenton to Harrogate via Wetherby.
/ /1854	York and North Midland Railway Malton and Driffield Junction Railway York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway Leeds and Thirsk Railway West Hartlepool Harbour and Railways North Eastern Railway Companies merge to form the North Eastern Railway.
