Harwich Town

A selection of Hamburg-based tank wagons containing hazardous substances is hauled off the Harwich train ferry on 25th March 1979 by 08460. This was one of the occasions when the ferry was late and the tide was ebbing, resulting in the engine having to pull the wagons up a sharply angled ramp between the dock and the ferry. The shunter crew had been waiting anxiously at the dockside for some time before the ferry hove into view. See image 50669
