Lea Road Watertroughs
DB Class 90s are rostered to make two driver training round trips between Crewe and Blackpool North each weekday as part of the Grand Central preparation for their new Blackpool to Euston services. On the second day of operations 90019 led a LNER DVT and MkIV coaches back towards Preston, seen here near Lea Road on 5th March 2020. The training runs have so far been using two locos top and tail because of a fault on the DVT. 90036 was on the rear on this run. Normal services were planned to use one Class 90 and the DVT, and some coaches and locomotives were repainted in Grand Central black and orange livery but Covid put paid to the scheme and the 90s are back on freight duties 75222.
