Garstang and Catterall

Coal merchants are a dwindling breed but where they survive they are often located in the places where they were historically supplied. This still busy yard at Garstang and Catterall, sandwiched between the canal and railway, probably originally received supplies of coal from both although now of course it is entirely by road. Beyond the embankment the station house can be seen alongside the line but all other traces of the station have gone. Photograph incidental to a daily permitted exercise walk.
