Carnforth Midland Shed
A picture with more interest than might first be apparent. 158845, Morecambe to Leeds, is accelerating away from the 10mph restriction on the curve out of Carnforth. The next signal the driver will see is the distant for Settle Junction, twenty-two miles away, making this the longest block section in the UK. The train is also running on bullhead rails, in fact both Up and Down lines at this point are bullhead, which must be quite a rarity on an operational passenger line in 2024.
