Southport

Control desk of Merseyrail 507003, pressed into service at Southport on 2nd November 2024 to cover for a failed 777 unit. In a broad Liverpool accent, the driver said of the cabs of the old units – ‘dirty, noisy, crampt (sic) and draughty’. That said they have served Merseyrail well for nearly half a century and certainly repaid their original investment many times over.
