Newsham
The uncompleted Newcastle-bound platform at Newsham being passed by 158815, Newcastle to Ashington, at 10.10 on Monday, 16th December 2024. Newsham, along with the other uncompleted stations at Northumberland Park, Blyth Bebside and Bedlington are expected to open sometime in 2025. The line becomes double track just south of here and this station will eventually have two platforms. Newsham was the junction station for the branch to Blyth, which also closed with the Ashington line in 1964 and the terminus at Blyth was demolished. The Blyth branch is not being revived for the Northumberland Line.
