Brinnington Tunnel

The eastern portal, or Woodley end, of 168 yards long Brinnington Tunnel in January 2025. It is now used by the Midshires Way cycle route but was driven through a ridge that separates the valleys of the Goyt and Thame rivers. The last trains through the tunnel ran towards the end of 1986, when the remains of this through route were cut back from Stockport Portwood to the new Bredbury stone terminal.
