Galashiels: A ScotRail 158 DMU about to pass south below Station Brae, Galashiels, shortly after leaving the station on a bright and sunny July morning in 2018. The train is a morning service from Edinburgh Waverley and has just commenced the final leg of its journey to Tweedbank.

Seaton [Tram]: Seaton Tramway operates narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton. The tram set up has greatly improved since my last visit in 2010. Modern buildings, a purpose built Maintenance Depot and platforms etc plus fourteen trams in the collection.

Curzon Street: Concrete progress, as it were, on the new Birmingham HS2 station. I was ten minutes late to catch my train; but very conveniently, it was late. That saved me waiting 20 minutes for the next one.

Failsworth [Tram]: Failsworth station, on the Oldham Loop, opened in 1881 and closed in 2009 for the line to be converted for Metrolink operations. The old wooden platforms were quickly demolished and a new tram stop constructed on the same site. This opened with the commencement of tram operations in 2012. 3144 calls on its way into Manchester, with a Rochdale to East Didsbury service, on 27th March 2024.

Loch Dochart [Private]: Between Loch Dochart and Loch Iubhair the A85 crossed over the Callander and Oban. Going towards Crianlarich the railway was on the north side of the road and going east on the south side. Realignment of the A85 to eliminate tight bends on either side of the bridge over the line has led to obliteration of the former trackbed - and even the former course of the road. This view looks west towards Crianlarich from the site of the bridge.
