Torness Power Station Siding: With Torness Nuclear Power Station dominating the shot, 37602 + 37259 head south with 6M50, the15.28 Torness - Carlisle in June 2005. The train ran to Grantshouse to run round before heading towards Edinburgh and the WCML to complete the journey.
Grosmont: 31466 in EW&SR livery seen at Grosmont with BR 9F No. 92134 in the background.
Allt Coire Chaorach Viaduct: This chimney, and a few rotted timbers, all what remains of a lineside hut west of the Allt Coire Chaorach Viaduct. A short portion of rail supports the chimney above the hearth.
Diggle Watertroughs: With the only level section of track on the Standedge route being inside the tunnels, that is where the Diggle water troughs were sited. In this June 2024 view over the west portal of the still operational double track tunnel the old water tank that supplied four troughs can be seen. The yellow board just visible in the foliage sits above the two disused single track tunnel portals.
Gunton: An Anglia service from Sheringham departs Gunton for Norwich on 13th June 2024.
Skell Bridge: Looking northerly along the east side of the substantial former railway three arch stone bridge over the River Skell, with an access road at each side, which is located around 3/4 mile south of the former Ure Viaduct, and Ripon station. After closure it had a new wider deck laid on the structure as part of the creation of the A61 Ripon south and east by-pass. The original parapets appear to have been re-erected on the new deck. This view shows the deck extension created on each side of the original structure to form the (overly) wide single carriageway over it.
Cameron Bridge: 158731 leaves Cameron Bridge, with the 11.03 from Edinburgh to Leven, on 21 June 2024. In the background is the Duniface footbridge.
Manchester Piccadilly: DBC 66044 almost seems to be squeezing through a gap as it slowly runs alongside Platform 13 at Manchester Piccadilly with a long container train from Trafford Park to Southampton Docks. The through island platform is very busy throughout the day and these Trafford Park freights have to be carefully timetabled in between the numerous DMU and EMU services.
