Preston: A4 60007 heads the 1Z72 1520hrs Carlisle to Blackpool North LSL steam charter into Preston station, just after 2000 hrs on 3rd July 2024. A nice bit of late evening light made this a pleasant scene.

Burton and Holme: 66607 drops down through Cinderbarrow, just to the south of Burton & Holme, with the empties from Shap to Tunstead on 12th June 2024. This train is usually rostered for a low geared 66/6, probably because the outbound loaded working needs lifting up the Westmorland banks at Grayrigg and Shap.

Staddlethorpe Junction: A shot of Staddlethorpe Junction taken circa 1973 looking west. The station ( behind the photographer ) and the junction were renamed Gilberdyke in Feb. 1974 and the train in the shot is heading in the direction of Goole. The tracks straight ahead are for Selby. At some time the four track section was reduced to double track and the station platforms were widened accordingly.

Greenfield: 802204 climbs through Greenfield with a TPE Liverpool to Newcastle service on 19th June 2024. The footbridge provides the sole access to Platform 2. At nearby Mossley the station is having to be moved slightly to accommodate new lifts and an ingenious solution will also be needed at the cramped site at Greenfield when its turn comes.
