South Acton [Met]: One of the few surviving memorials to the LU District Line branch from Acton Town to South Acton is this south side abutment of the former skew bridge over Bollo Lane, south-west of South Acton station, seen here at 15.29 on Saturday, 20th July 2024. The District Line station (at a slightly higher level) stood alongside that on the Broad Street to Richmond line, now part of London Overground, but they were completely separate. The line was abandoned by London Transport on 28th February 1959 and the District station demolished. Its site was derelict for many years but recently flats have been built, overlooking the surviving LO station.
