Heck: 66301, painted up in a gold 'Drax 50th Anniversary' livery, matched by the leading biomass wagon, at Heck Ings with the Tyne Coal Terminal to Drax service on 31st July 2024. The cooling towers of Eggborough Power station, once a landmark here, are now gone.
West Kensington: Exterior of West Kensington station, LU District Line, on North End Road, at 15.14 on Saturday, 6th July 2024. This station was opened in 1874 as North End (Fulham) by the Metropolitan District Railway with its extension from Earl's Court to Hammersmith and renamed in 1877.
Bridgeton Bank Yard: Bridgeton Bank Yard viewed from Rutherglen station in March 2024.
Ă…nge: The Swedish rail freight company Green Cargo (read environmentally-friendly freight transport) has a major operations depot in this town. The building shown incorporates the offices of the freight operator and the staff facilities for both passenger and freight operators and the passenger station (platforms just visible on the left of shot), local library, art exhibition space and a historic display of railwayana.
Aberdeen Regent Quay: Ex-GNSR Class Z5 68192 at Regent Quay, Aberdeen Docks. The view looks north up Shore Lane with the Town House in the background.
Motherwell Shed: Motherwell shed was home to several of the WD Austerity 2-10-0s and here are two on 17 March 1962, with 90761 in the centre of the photo. Being in the heart of the steel industry, it can be seen that most of the depot's allocation was freight related.
Acharn Siding: This pile of lifted sleepers is one of many in the Acharn area. This one is about half a mile east of Acharn Siding and on the north side of the line. There is something very forlorn about a long forgotten moss covered pile of lifted sleepers. Had these been timber sleepers perhaps they would have found any number of new uses locally.
Earl's Court [Metro]: East side exterior of Earl's Court station (but without the apostrophe in Earl's), LU District Line (also served by the LU Piccadilly Line in deep-level tube tunnels), at 15.55 on Saturday, 6th July 2024. This station opened in 1878 replacing the earlier station of 1871 which was slightly to the east.
Dereham: Pacer 142061, still in Northern purple livery, is a long way from its old stomping ground stabled at Dereham on 12th July 2024. The Pacer is used on the more lightly loaded Mid-Norfolk Railway services.
