Heckington: 170423, East Midlands service from Nottingham to Skegness, rolls slowly over the level crossing at Heckington to call at the station on 16th July 2024. The iconic, and unique, operational eight sail windmill can be seen in the background.

Dochart Viaduct: View at Eilean Uaine looking downhill towards the Dochart Viaduct. From here to near the viaduct the trackbed is no longer walkable, being subsumed into neighbouring properties for around a quarter of a mile. Almost the entire Killin Railway can be walked, this short portion is an exception. Fortunately an alternative route can be found via the nearby Gray Street. The small bridge seen in the foreground carried the line over the Allt Glas.

Walthamstow Queens Road: 710269, London Overground from Barking Riverside to Gospel Oak, departing from Walthamstow Queen's Road past the grass-grown disused section of the platform (shortened when the station was rebuilt after being saved from the Beeching cuts) and about to pass under the Liverpool Street to Chingford line, also now part of the London Overground network, on the afternoon of Thursday, 25th April 2024.

Canklow Shed: Canklow shed was situated a couple of miles south of Rotherham Masborough on what is known as 'The Old Road' and was opened by the Midland Railway in 1900. Coded 41D by BR in 1958, it was closed in 1965 although the shed yard supposedly still used as a stabling point until 1967. The shed was a roundhouse which, by the time I visited in 1967, had been well trashed and I understand housing now occupies the site.

Bay Horse: The 'Pride' branding on TPE's 802213 is more restrained than its Avanti Pendolino counterpart but is still seen to good effect as it passes through the cutting at Forton. This was 1S56, the 1204hrs Manchester Airport to Edinburgh service on 31st July 2024.

Dochart Viaduct: At the south end of the Dochart Viaduct the Killin Railway crossed over a minor road to Kinnell. This view looks east with the embankment of the line visible on the right and now missing bridge straight ahead. The River Dochart is off to the left.

Drax (H and B): The task was to try and photograph the Drax 50th Anniversary special and Drax Power station. 66301, painted up and with a 'Drax Power Station' headboard, is seen heading down the Drax branch with the empty biomass train on 31st July 2024. It was booked back to Tyne Yard via the Settle to Carlisle railway. 50 years of Drax generating power.
