Perth South Shed: Black Five 45478 at Perth Coaling Tower in the early 1960s.
Foxlow Junction: Plenty of EMU drags are ongoing in October 2024. Here is a move from Doncaster to Old Dalby, seen in the lovely autumn sunshine at Slitting Mill crossing just north of the old Foxlow Junction. ROG 37800 provides the motive power.
Bo'ness: 0-6-0T 56377/Coltness No.1 performs shunting demonstrations in Bo'ness yard as part of the 2024 Autumn Gala.
Preston: 68004 'Rapid' led this RHTT train to Preston from Settle Junction via Lancaster on 16th October 2024. After a crew break the train was about to depart northwards again before looping round to Settle Junction and then down to Blackburn. In the cab of what is now the trailing loco is the operator of the spray equipment. 68018 'Vigilant' was now leading the train.
Blackford: A northbound 170 passes under the footbridge south west of the site of Blackford station, closed 1956.
Oubeck Loops: DRS 68008 and 66429, running light engine(s) from Crewe to Carlisle, pass Oubeck Loops on 25th September 2024. With several fast services following I thought they might have been looped here but they continued on through towards Lancaster.
Wood Street: Wood Street, with its sharply curved platforms that change the line's direction from east to north, looking towards Chingford at 14.48 on Saturday, 5th October 2024.
St Rollox Works: 20020, along with a BRCW Class 27 and an 08 shunter, withdrawn at Glasgow St Rollox Works on 13th August 1983. 20020 was a Scottish Region based Class 20 for many years and is now preserved at Bo'ness.
Polmadie Signal Box: Up goods approaching Pomadie Bridge with 'Jumbo' 0.6.0 17401 in 1949. The Govan Iron Works is on the right, the sidings leading to the works were known as Dixon's Siding.
Kyle of Lochalsh: A busy Kyle of Lochalsh in August 1965.
Earn Viaduct [Strageath]: View north north east at the former Earn Viaduct. I'd hoped for crop marks in the field beyond the river, but no such luck. The line ran to the forest in the distant centre left, then it turned to the left passing through Highlandman station and on to Crieff off to the left. For the last part it ran parallel to the line from Perth to Crieff which ran from right to left in the far distance.
Perth South Shed: A4 60001 'Sir Ronald Matthews' at Perth Shed Coaling Tower early '60s.
