Thornliebank: Engineers completed the latest phase of the East Kilbride enhancements project - on October 1 at Thornliebank Road in the southside of Glasgow, and on Westerton Lane near Busby station.

Aviemore Shed: Hunslet 0-6-0ST number 60 coupling on to its train at Aviemore Shed platform, before heading to Boat of Garten, on 24th September 1985. This engine was built in 1948 for Dewdon Mine near Seaham on the Lambton system and operated there until 1976 when it was sold to the Strathspey Railway. Its new home since 2018 is on the Aln Valley Railway.

Bo'ness: Barclay 0-4-0ST, ex-South of Scotland Electricity Board, on train duty running from Bo'ness to Kinneil and return in August 1981.

Gleneagles: Just south of Gleneagles is quite a substantial cutting, as can be seen in this shot from August 2003. The top of the station buildings and the footbridge can be made out behind the bridge in the background. I have noted the time as 10.50 and the locomotive as 66038 but I have no idea as to the identity of the working.

Bolton Junction: View from BR Scottish Region's June 1968 'Grand Rail Tour number 5' as the train approaches Bolton Junction, Blackburn on the return journey from Sheffield Victoria to Edinburgh. Britannia Pacific 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' was in charge during this stage of the excursion.
