Godley: The entrance to Godley station is behind the camera here, with a steep climb to access the platforms. Ahead is Station Road, leading to the original Godley Junction (later Godley) station about one third of a mile away. Present day Godley opened in 1986 to replace the less well sited facility that then became Godley East, served by one train a week, until it closed in 1995. Platforms that served the Woodley line at Godley Junction were cleared away after the line closed but those on the surviving line can still be seen from passing trains.

Princes Risborough: Just south of Princes Risborough, the double track separates with the up line passing through Saunderton Tunnel on an easier gradient than the down line, although this was partly rebuilt on a new alignment which avoided the original summit. These changes took place circa 1905. In this shot from August 2004 the DMU is heading to Marylebone as 60096 heads for Calvert with a load of spoil from Kings Cross.
