Newtown Tunnel: Although called Newtown Tunnel, and just down the hill from New Mills Newtown station, this structure is on a different and unconnected line. The station is on the LNWR Buxton line, whereas the tunnel is on the Midland line from New Mills South Junction to Northenden, now linked at the Hazel Grove Chord to Stockport and used by TPE and East Midlands services between Manchester and Sheffield. View towards Hazel Grove, over a high bridge parapet, just after a TPE service to Cleethorpes had passed, on 30th October 2024.

Eastfield Shed: A cold 3rd January 1965 finds the unique shovel nosed V2 2-6-2 No 60813 at Eastfield Shed, probably heading for repair at Cowlairs Works.

Pleasure Beach [Tram]: Blackpool Transport has suspended all Heritage Tram operations with immediate effect. In a sudden and surprising move, part way through the 2024 Illuminations Season, all heritage services have ceased with BT saying they are becoming increasingly difficult to manage alongside the modern trams. It is to be hoped that a way forward can be found, and the enthusiasm in Blackpool Transport to carry it through. Under darkening skies, Balloon 717 sits on the Pleasure Beach turning circle between Heritage turns on 28th April 2018.

North Leith: Looking north west over a bend in the Water of Leith. A newly-painted mural by local artists adorns the retaining wall for the closed branch to North Leith. A cyclist makes use of the trackbed path. Junction Bridge signalbox and station were out of sight to the right while a siding to the demolished Junction Mills curved alongside the river to the left.

Saltburn: The main platform at Saltburn once extended to the rear of the Zetland Hotel, which allowed passengers to disembark and access the hotel direct through the rear entrance whilst remaining under cover. Although the image suggests that the track was on the right and the platform on the left, the opposite is the case and replica buffers are actually situated in the correct position. See Image [[17867]].

Ormskirk: 44761 approaches Ormskirk with the 16.53 Preston - Liverpool Exchange in early March 1968. In the background can be made out one of the EMUs introduced in the 1940s (which I think became class 502) and going off to the right the former L&Y branch to Rainford Junction (closed to passengers in 1956). Part of this was retained for goods traffic but the remaining section to Ormskirk Branch Sidings was taken out of use in May 1968.

Highbury and Islington: 378209 arriving at Highbury & Islington, where it will terminate, at 11.13 on Saturday, 23rd November 2024. This train will then form a return London Overground service to Crystal Palace.

Boulogne Maritime: A 1970 shot of SNCF ‘Mikado’ 141R682 awaiting departure from Boulogne Maritime with a boat train for Paris. Within the next minute or two, a sister 141R was to arrive with an incoming express (see [[83739]]), so the Renault 16 hatchback parked alongside the platform needed to get a shift on.
