Govan Ferry: In her final month of service on the Clyde, TS ‘Queen Mary’ heads past Govan on her way down river from Bridge Wharf. The Meadowside Granary can be seen in the background.
Ashton-under-Lyne [Tram]: Single tram 3144 stops well short of the end of the platform at Ashton-under-Lyne, before returning through Manchester to Eccles on 5th November 2024. The tram stop is dominated by the huge IKEA store but there are other retail buildings in the town centre and a large bus station nearby.
Berryden Junction: Berryden Junction is just north of the site of Hutcheon Street station, and was created as part of the work to redouble the line towards Inverurie. The section from here into Aberdeen station remains single track to avoid major engineering work in Hutcheon Street and Schoolhill tunnels. The shot was taken on 3rd December 2024 and includes 158723 with the 08.56 Inverness - Aberdeen service. Vegetation growth since 2020 can be judged by viewing image [[72251]].
Newport: Hst 253024 departs Newport for Paddington in 1980. I had no interest in these things and took very few pictures of them. I had come to Newport to see the 37s and other loco hauled freights and passenger services. Newport then was a great place to be. Busy with freight and passenger workings and you could wander all over to get your pictures.
Cabin [Tram]: Blackpool Balloon No. 704 heads north from Gynn Square with a Fleetwood service in 1993. This tram was withdrawn in 2004 and has been stored ever since in Rigby Road depot in a stripped condition. However, in 2020 work started on a full (new) chassis up rebuild with the tram intended to be restored to its original condition as No. 241.
Bromley South: Exterior of Bromley South, in heavy rain and wind, at 13.40 on Saturday, 23rd November 2024.
Dalchonzie Viaduct: A photograph taken below the viaduct over the Earn at Dalchonzie showing the large single span looking towards Comrie.
Appleby North Junction: A long way from home for Chiltern Railways 68013 'Peter Wreford-Bush'. It was returning south whilst working the 1229 Carlisle New Yard to Crewe Basford Hall on the 12th March 2024 when it experienced power issues. Upon arrival in Appleby the decision was made to set back into the sidings to keep the mainline clear. The train was then shortened leaving some wagons in the sidings and shortly after these photos were taken it continued south to Crewe. The stranded wagons were collected the next day. The sidings previously linked up with the Penrith to Kirkby Stephen 'Eden Valley Line' before its full closure in 1989.
