Appleby: An unusual sight in Appleby on 2nd September 2021 as Direct Rail Services 66421 'Gresty Bridge TMD' dragged Balfour Beatty Plasser & Theurer DGS 62-N Dynamic Track Stabilisers DR72211 and DR72213 to Crewe Basford Hall. Cullercoats: After a brief pause at Cullercoats, this brand new Tyne & Wear Metro Class 555 is moving off towards Newcastle via Tynemouth, at 16.27 on Monday, 16th December 2024. I had no idea this was going to turn up here, it was pure luck that I happened to alight while making a short tour of part of the system with an Adult Day Saver ticket. The first public passenger service ran with 555021 two days later.

Old Kilpatrick: Viewed from the Erskine Bridge, TS ‘Queen Mary’ passes Old Kilpatrick on her way upriver to Bridge Wharf. The photograph was taken in September 1977 during the steamer’s final month of service on the Clyde. Or perhaps not, if the present restoration project sees completion.

Dalchonzie Viaduct: A view of the way ahead to St Fillans from Dalchonzie. The view looks west. The former railway is a narrow gap in the trees to the left of centre. The A85 is off to the right.

Aviemore Speyside: Andrew Barclay 14'' 0-4-0ST 'Clyde', formerly of Braehead Power Station, at Aviemore where Strathspey Railway track was being re-positioned away from BR's point rodding in 1985. The loco's oval buffers had been salvaged from a Clayton Type 1. One day, on a light engine movement to Boat of Garten, we found on arrival that a buffer had dropped off. Cue a careful retracing of our steps to recover it!
