Goostrey: Goostrey station is at the top left of this view, but much more interesting is the Jodrell Bank radio telescope in the centre of the view by the railway.
Goostrey: The radio telescope at Jodrell Bank, just to the north of Goostrey station, has been a lineside landmark for many years now. This picture from a northbound EMU on a stopping service on 6th January 2025 doesn't really do it justice as the huge structure towers above the line and can be seen more closely through the trees as the train passes the site.
Ais Gill Viaduct: A sunny and dry spell on the Settle & Carlisle in summer 1984 sees 40122, the former D200, head south over Ais Gill Viaduct on what was a day of services diverted from the WCML, occasioned by engineering work.
Abergele and Pensarn: 31423, just west of Abergele and Pensarn station, with the 1234hrs Crewe to Holyhead service on 15th September 1995.
Manors: The ex-11.30 Northern service from Ashington to Newcastle, in the hands of 158817, has left the reopened line behind at Benton Junction, joining the ECML for the final run into Newcastle and here departing from its stop at the severely downgraded Manors station on the main line and the only station not actually on the Ashington line, at 12.06 on the second day reopening, Monday, 16th December 2024.
Donibristle Platform: DRS 66434 runs through the site of Donibristle Halt, with 6K25 from Newburgh to Millerhill, on 19th January 2025. Faintly visible beyond and to the right of the train is the course of the airfield branch.
Crieff [2nd]: In this 1997 view, looking north west from the demolished Duchlage Road bridge, the site of Crieff goods yard was to the left and Crieff [2nd] to the right with the lines dividing in the foreground. The fence was roughly the demarcation between the two.
Craiginches Yard: Class J36 65288 departs Craiginches heading south in ex-works condition.
