Elderslie: Light is beginning to fade on 27 September 1965 as Standard 2-6-4 tank No 80063 approaches Elderslie station with a boat train from Greenock Princes Pier.
Seaton Delaval: Nice to see the newly opened car park at Seaton Delaval has plenty of cars parked at 1030 in the morning .The station car park and approach has, in my opionion, been laid out very well with level access .
Ashington: The old Ashington station, seen from the very new. The footbridge in the picture is out of use. Work was underway when I made my visit on 16th January 2025.
Stepney Green: Exterior of Stepney Green, LU District and Hammersmith & City Lines, in glorious winter sunshine but bitterly cold, at 12.56, on Tuesday, 14th January 2025. This station was opened by the Whitechapel & Bow Railway on 2nd June 1902 and worked by the Metropolitan District Railway which formed an extension of their line from Whitechapel to a connection with the LT&SR's line west of Bromley station (now Bromley-by-Bow). It was the nucleus of the District's extension all the way to Upminster in Essex.
Crewe: Now rare birds on the national network, Class 153 units are still in use with Transport for Wales on some rural routes including the Shrewsbury to Crewe stopping services. They are sometimes used singly on this line but on 6th January 2025 153327 was paired with 153382, seen in Bay Platform 8 at Crewe before heading south again.
Alloa: A dull day at Alloa, thought to be in April 1968, with a Class 24 awaiting departure on an Edinburgh - Stirling working. One gas light is attempting to brighten up a scene which had become sadly typical by that time of what was in many places a rundown railway system. Passenger services ended on 7th October 1968.
Pittenzie Halt: The site of Pittenzie Halt, looking west towards Crieff, in 1995. The halt served the line to Gleneagles, on the left, and the Perth line was to the right. The school seen to the right has since been replaced by a new one which crosses over and occupies the site of the former railways.
Inverkeithing: LNER Azuma 800101 arrives in Inverkeithing, with the 09.52 from Aberdeen to Kings Cross, on 21st January 2025.
