Dalgety Bay: SRPS owned 37403 'Isle of Mull' nears Dalgety Bay, with a route learning trip from Bo'ness to Perth and Stirling, returning to Bo'ness on 13 February 2025.
St Germans: A class 150 unit comes up St Germans bank, to the west of St Germans, with the 1755hrs Plymouth to Penzance service in April 2012. Once this would have been a hauled train, with plenty of coaches, and not a sardine can with noisy underfloor engines. At least the Cornish countryside looks nice and lush.
Brinnington Tunnel: Looking towards Woodley at Brinnington Tunnel in January 2025. Just behind the camera is the site of Brinnington Junction where a chord to Reddish Junction diverged until 1966 and is now a greenway through Reddish Vale. The picture was taken from the site of another shorter tunnel that has been opened out but this is another surfaced cycle route that can be followed through the tunnel and beyond.
Embsay: Hunslet 0-6-0ST (Works No 3783) 'Darfield No 1', in pristine condition, leaving Embsay for Holywell Halt on 8th June 1983. This engine is still operational, now at the Chasewater Railway.
Highley: Peak 46045 heads for Kidderminster at Highley during the SVR Winter Diesel Day on 30th December 2024. The exhaust note brought back memories of the Midland Main Line in the mid 1980s.
Wanstead: Wanstead, LU Central Line, looking east on 14th January 2025. The Central Line's eastern extensions, delayed by the war, took over the ex-LNER Epping line and Hainault Loop. This section and station, in tunnel from Leytonstone to Newbury Park, was opened on 14th December 1947. The tunnel was almost ready by 1939 but temporarily converted into a three miles long underground factory manufacturing aircraft components by the Plessey Company. It included a narrow gauge railway but all finished in 1945 with the tunnel opening for tube trains two years later.
Warcop: A general view of the north of Warcop station on the Eden Valley Railway. The trust named after the railway is working to restore the line between Warcop and Appleby East but for now they operate a variety of battery powered EMUs on Summer Sundays on a short section of track north of the station. Class 419 no. MLV 9010 and class 412s no. 2311 and no. 2315 can be seen in this shot on 2nd February 2025.
Innerpeffray Bridge: Just east of Innerpeffray station the Crieff - Perth line crossed over a minor road (removed, although the western abutment remains) and then crossed over the Pow Water by this large single arch bridge which now carries a farm track. Between here and Almondbank the Pow Water is never far from the Crieff - Methven Junction - Perth line.
Eastfield Shed: A4 4-6-2 No 60019 'Bittern' is preparing to leave Eastfield Shed, before moving to Glasgow Queen Street to head a special train to Edinburgh Waverley on 11 April 1966.
