Slateford Junction: A shot from the second half of the 1980s, taken from adjacent to the footbridge over the Craiglochart connection which allowed BR staff access to Slateford Yard. The train looks like a very short civil engineers' working.

Bath Spa: Presumably we only invested £7.4 billion in Brunel's time (inflation adjusted, of course). Seriously, I am all in favour of the railway blowing its own trumpet - especially when the road building industry often quotes "numbers of jobs created", which may only apply during the construction phase, if at all.

Gaur Viaduct: There was actually a very grubby BR blue Class 37 at the head of the train in this 1980 picture, well camouflaged by the dark brown of Rannoch moor on the far side of the Gaur Viaduct.

Moss-side Level Crossing: View looking east to Methven Junction from the site of Moss-side Level Crossing on the Methven Junction - Crieff railway. The line, going east, has been ploughed out for over a mile.

Pelaw: Pelaw, Tyne and Wear Metro. 4016 calls late in the day on 16th January 2025. Long winter shadows, the type of low winter light that I like.
