Gourock Pier: A summer morning at Gourock in 1979 with MV ‘Glen Sannox’ waiting to depart with a cruise to Tarbert, Loch Fyne. About to disappear from view is the ‘Kenilworth’, a recent recruit to the Gourock-Kilcreggan service after previous operation out of Southampton. One of the so-called ‘streaker’ car ferries, either the ‘Juno’ or ‘Jupiter’, approaches on a service from Dunoon.
Greenock Ladyburn Shed: Fairburn 2-6-4T vNo 42197 is framed by shadows in an otherwise empty Ladyburn Shed on 16 April 1966. The resident Fairburns were thin on the ground by this time.

The locomotive was reportedly employed at the nearby soap works, the open wagon is in Ship Canal livery, the tank wagon is liveried for Irlam Margarine and behind that is a tippler from the local steel works. Contrary to many outdoor plinthed railway vehicles these are all kept in superb condition.
