Dudding Hill: The south side of the Dudding Hill Loop, freight only since 1902, looking across to Gladstone Park in north-west London, at 14.15 on Saturday, 15th March 2025. The parapets of the footbridge are far too high, preventing photoing the line north or south so this was the best I could do. I have travelled over this line several times on railtours, the first time in 1969, and long term plans are now afoot to reopen it as a new London Overground 'West Orbital' route from Hendon and Cricklewood to Hounslow, although this is unlikely to come to fruition in the immediate future.
Bedford: Bedford on a cold dreary winter's day. We are looking south towards London.
Britannia: The road from Bacup to Rochdale drops sharply down from Britannia towards Shawforth. The railway ran alongside the road to just outside Shawforth, on a gradient of 1:40. This view, from just below Britannia Summit, shows the steeply graded trackbed on the stone built shelf, which saw its last passenger and freight trains in 1947, although occasional light engine movements continued for a few more years.
Anniesland: Anniesland station is now step-free as a unique accessibility project is completed. New lifts at Anniesland station are open, providing step-free access to passengers.
Haverfordwest: D1013 Western Ranger stands at Haverford West with the Pembroke Coast Express run by the Wirral Railway Circle. This tour gave the rare opportunity to visit various locations in West Wales where Westerns once worked. Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock being the highlights as westerns were still working to Fishguard Harbour. My Late friend Tony Gale was booked on this tour and took a few pictures . The Wirral railway society ceased to exist some time ago but are remembered by the very large amount of Rail Tours they ran back in the day. [Added by Roger Geach.]
Wembley Hill: Wembley Hill displayed a fine variety of signals when photographed in 1969. I think the station was renamed Wembley Complex in the late 70s [1978] and then about 10 years later became Wembley Stadium [1987].
Balgowan: View east showing the former railway entering Methven Moss with the Pow Water taking a detour round the moss on the left.
Cameron Bridge: 158741 arrives at Cameron Bridge with the 14.18 from Leven to Edinburgh on 21st March 2025. Duniface footbridge is in the background.
