Lydgate Viaduct: This train is usually hauled by a Class 66 so it was a pleasant surprise to see DRS 68004 and 68034 double heading 6E73 08:10 Shap Summit Quarry to Doncaster Up Decoy crossing Knott Wood viaduct (aka Lydgate) on the Copy Pit route. The train was slightly early here but came to a stand with the pilot loco just in the trees beyond the viaduct and remained there for about thirty minutes.

Broomhill: Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0s 46464 and 46512 double head the last Strathspey train of the day on 30th March 2025, passing Lower Lackgie on the way to Broomhill. The River Spey is in the background and the Cairngorms in the distance.

Fort William: 44767 at Fort William, getting ready to head out to Mallaig, in the days when BR ran these trips. I was more interested in the class 37s that were about in those days.

Carlisle: TPE ex Glasgow Central - Manchester Airport, 09.24 Motherwell to Carlisle on a recent jolly. Round trip Motherwell-Carlisle-Newcastle-Jarrow-Newcastle-Edinburgh-Motherwell, which ended up being a little different as I missed the connection to Motherwell as the East coast trains were delayed due to a speed restriction so ended up travelling to Uddingston instead.

Leominster: One of the advantages of travelling on the Welsh Marches line is that every so often, the Welsh Assembly Hot Rod turns up. It has an official name, but I prefer slang - if you have experienced the comfort of the seat and the acceleration behind a class 67, you will understand. This is 67029 with the 10.12 to Manchester Piccadilly at Leominster on 14th April 2025.

Banavie: The weather could not have been more perfect for the return of steam to the West Highlands after an absence of 21 years. Black 5 5407, beautifully turned out for the occasion, made two return trips along the Mallaig extension on Sunday 27th May 1984. She is seen here approaching Banavie with the first train.
