Camperdown Junction: Behind the wall is the site of Dundee East sidings and the gradient post on the main line is a reminder of the steep descent from here towards Tay Bridge station. The former Camperdown Junction was a short distance to the right. For a shot of the area with the gradient post visible see image [[71232]].

Hatton [GNSR]: Just to the north of the site of Hatton station, the A90 passes this much more tangible reminder of the Boddam railway. This stone arch bridge carried the line over the Water of Cruden and looked very attractive on 15th April 2025 with the gorse bushes lit up by the sunshine. This view towards Hatton station and Ellon.

James Street: Modern day entrance to James Street station, Merseyrail Wirral Line, at 16.06 on Wednesday, 30th April 2025. After visiting a pub opposite for a pint and a meal on my way back from the Waterfront, it was a quick two stops from James Street to Lime Street and then the 18.43 Avanti West Coast service to London Euston which arrived dead on time at 21.02.

Dudley Tunnel: The light at the end of the tunnel is very welcome when it's 870m long and curved. A very spacious cross-section, mind; it was built for broad gauge tracks, and today is graded at W12 (suitable for refrigerated containers). The gents by the fence are BLS members in their Sunday best - on a Tuesday. They were visiting the Very Light Rail National Innovation Centre, only to find the tram had been sent to Coventry. When it's there, it has a 2.2km test track; including 600m beyond this fence, and a 15m radius loop at the other end, on the site of the former Dudley station.

West Ealing Junction: 50012 has the Carmarthen to Old Oak vans at West Ealing, seen from the footbridge known as Jacobs ladder just west of the station, on 13th May 1988. Once a great place to watch the trains. The Plasser factory is seen on the right. Overheads wire have ruined this location for photography.

Kingshouse Halt: An aerial view of the site of Kingshouse Halt. There's not much to see other than the trackbed converted into a foot/cyclepath. The platform was on the east side of the line, the upper part of this photograph.

Breich: A cold but sunny day in January 1981 with a Class 26 working hard as it heads west near Breich with an unidentified freightliner working.
