This is the 'Cutty Sark Bridge' (named for a long term advert for Cutty Sark Whisky on the bridge) over the A8 at the point where is became the M8 heading west.
It is a single bowstring girder carrying a double track line over the dual carriage. Because the width was just over four lanes a hard shoulder could not be fitted beneath it.
With the conversion of the A8 into the M8, a new road deviation has opened to the south. This is crossed by the Braehead Viaduct with which the Bargeddie bridge is almost contiguous.
