This iron works was located east of Dalry on the east bank of the River Garnock. The furnaces were built into the river embankment. It was owned by Blair and Co.
The works was railway served, two connections making a trailing connection to the southbound line at Dalry station - the iron siding was north of the road bridge and coal siding to its south.
The coal line tramway, Blair Coal Siding, ran at a higher level to reach the furnace bank, the approaching line being the headshunt for the various sidings serving the furnaces.
The iron siding, Blair Iron Siding, ran close to the river to reach the furnace bottoms. Connected to this was a line to Carsehead Pit, to the north close to the river. From the iron line a curve ran to Peesweep Bridge where a headshunt allowed access to the coal line The slag heap was at the headshunt.
The iron works was closed early by Bairds in the 1870s. The colliery was taken over by William Baird & Co.
