This pit was close to where point where the south east and south west forks, of the branch to the Drumshangie Colliery from Drumshangie Junction on the North Monkland Railway, divided.
The south east fork continued south east to reach Drumshangie Colliery Pit No 1.
The pit was closed by 1898.
Much of the area has been opencast and although the junction site still exists the branch and colliery site is largely obliterated.
