Opened on the Monuments and Memorials. This large monument, a large square plinth topped with a circular pillared structure located on top of Dun Athaich, celebrates the life of the Gaelic Bard Duncan Ban MacIntyre (1724-1812). It is located on high ground just south east of an old Military Way. One of the northern arms of Loch Awe is to the west. The site may be reached by a minor road (following the military way) from Dalmally.
The monument was designed by the architect John Thomas Rochead who was also responsible for the Wallace Monument and the planned 1858 rebuild of the 1849 Buchanan Street station.
