This is a seven single track span girder viaduct crossing the River Orchy. It is the longest viaduct on the Callander and Oban Railway route.
Construction began in 1878 when access to the site by road was difficult, the original road here running somewhat further north. The contractor was W & T Adams. Works completed around 1878.
A good view of Kilchurn Castle is had from the viaduct, the castle being to the south west.
Although being located close to Loch Awe, the viaduct is named for the river it crosses. The Awe Viaduct is further west close to Taynuilt.
