Name and dates

Fardlehill Junction (1914-1935)

Opened on the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway.

Description

This was the junction for Fardalehill Colliery (older spelling), Greenhill Colliery Pit No 1, Woodhall Colliery Pit No 14 and Woodhall Colliery Pit No 16. The collieries were on the south side of the line, approached from the west. The junction was between Crosshouse and Kilmarnock.

A box opened on the south side of the junction in 1914 (although perhaps older as it appears in the 1910 OS map).

The box closed in 1935.

The main line closed in 1973.

The trackbed is now a footpath.
