Opened on the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway.
Opened on the Gartsherrie Ironworks and Railways (William Baird & Co).

Description

This box was at the north end of Gunnie Yard [1st] on the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway. It was on the east side of the line just north of where the Gartsherrie Ironworks and Railways crossed overhead. The yard started immediately to the south of the bridge.

On the west side of the line was a weighbridge on the line from the west portion of the yard.

Gartsherrie Iron Works closed in 1967. The box was renamed Gunnie on closure of Gunnie Yard [1st] and Gunnie South Signal Box the same year. The north box closed the following year.

Gunnie Yard [2nd] was laid out to the north of the north box site.

Since the closure of Gunnie Cement in 2006 the line is now derelict.
